Fuel–A Mellow Part of Manchesters Nightlife
Manchester is known as a hard-rocking city with many different venues and a loud, go-go-go bar scene. Fuel, a nice little spot on Withington High Street provides a low-key alternative for those who want to hit the town, but whod prefer to keep the volume down.
Fuel is a bar/coffee shop/restaurant/music venue hybrid that offers a calmer environment than that crazy fusion might lead you to imagine. The bar and coffee shop are nice, if not thrilling. The food is all vegetarian (the chili enchiladas get strong reviews, by the way). They book local bands who play in a relatively small upstairs area at a less-than-ear-splitting volume. Its the kind of place where you can bliss out with some tunes while staring right up the nose of the bass player–tiny and almost too intimate for some tastes.
Fuel attracts a student and young professional crowd. Its open all day (its not just a night spot) and has a loyal fan base in Manchester. If youre looking for a good alternative to the booming rock and hyperkinetic club scenes youll find elsewhere in Manchester, Fuel is definitely worth a long look. You can get a review of Fuel here. Most of the clubs are located around the city centre so if you get one of the hotels in manchester, you will be in an ideal location.
